On Dec. 24, 2014, Wang Mingyuan, the secretary general of China Coated Abrasives Association, together with Shi Tieshuan, set on trip to visit some renowned abrasives companies in China. Yufa Abrasives Group was founded in 1983, headquartered in Zhengzhou, Henan, China. It processes all kinds of abrasive sands in five giant furnaces, including alumina, zirconium, mullite, and corundum. The production capacity is 60,000 tons/year in more than 10 production lines. Yufa Abrasives Group has 3 subsidiaries, all of which are based in China. It has a total of 860 employees. During the visit, He Shilei, the general manager and member of the Raw Materials Committee, conducted in-depth dialogue with Wang Mingyuan and Shi. The focus of Yufa has been put on the application of ceramic industry. Little emphasis has been put on white fused alumina to be applied in coated abrasives industry. He expressed his thought that Yufa Abrasives Group will enhance investment in coated abrasives application and regard it as a key direction.
On the evening of Dec. 24, Wang and Shi went to the second company – Xishan County Zhenghong Single Crystal Fused Alumina Co., Ltd. Wang Hushan, the general manager of the company, welcomed their visit whole-heartedly. Back to May 2011, China Coated Abrasives Association sent 35 people to America to further study. Wang was one of them. After returning to China, Wang conducted equipment upgrading to the factory and built up full automatic production lines. Today, the full automatic production lines can be put into production, and it only requires 6 to 7 employees to operate. Production efficiency and output have been improved substantially. The company can now well meet the ever increasing market demand.
On the morning of Dec. 25, Wang and Shi went to Beichen Special Wear-resistant Material Co., Ltd. in Danjiangkou, Hubei Province. According to reporter, the company is the first zirconia alumina producer in China. After a decade development, its production techniques and products' quality are well received. This year, Beichen have undertaken to expand business scale. Two zirconia alumina smelting furnaces are under construction. It is predicted that the first zirconia alumina smelting furnace will be put into production.
