Production Process and Announcements of Brown Fused Alumina

All abrasive grains suppliers know that brown fused alumina’s main ingredient is alumina, whose content is 94.5% - 97%. The smelting of brown fused alumina makes use of the basic principle that aluminum's affinity for oxygen is higher than iron, silicon, titanium, etc.

It can use reducting and smelting method by controlling the amount of reducing agent to make the main impurities in bauxite reduction. The impurities after reduction can generate ferrosilicon alloy and separate from corundum liquid, and then the final crystallization whose alumina content should be more than 95% is called brown fused alumina.

Generally there are three methods about brown fused alumina smelting:

A) The first method can make continuous production and have high degree of automation, but the investment is big, and the structure is complicated, suitable for high power smelting.

B) The second method called dumping furnace smelting method can also make continuous production and have high mechanization degree, less investment, and good efficiency, which is widely used now.

C) The third method called fixed furnace smelting method can only make continuous production, and have low degree of mechanization, but small investment, simple equipment, and convenient process, which is the main method of corundum smelting in the small abrasive factories.

Some announcements that need to be paid attention when smelting brown fused alumina:

A, If there is no abnormal phenomenon in the smelting process, please send full capacity according to the requirement, and reduce the number of electrode activity.

B, If the furnace does not send out the materials for a long time, please adjust electrode for 30 ~ 40 minutes and force them out.

C, If the reaction equipments are damaged, or there is a long time for power outage, please pay attention to the active electrode.

D, If the electrode is sticky, it should be down firstly and then rise.

E, Please run at full capacity according to the process.
