Tapan Kumar Chand, chairman of India's National Aluminum Company (Nalco), says that it is expected that the aluminum production will increase by 3.5% by the end of 2016, which mainly benefits from domestic consumption growth and prices. By the end of this year, its aluminum output will reach 385000 tons, with an increase of 3.8% compared with 372000 tons last year.

Tapan Kumar Chand says that they are now improving the production to catch the opportunity of the domestic market demand growth. It is said that the company increased the production to increase profits because of small profits.

In order to improve the aluminum production capacity, they also make the alumina production increased by 9.1% to 2.13 million tons. At present, the capacity utilization rate of alumina refinery rises from 85.85% to 93.62%.

Mr Chand says that alumina refining needs to spend a lot of energy, and at the same time, the coal cost is high, so the company tightens the alumina production. But now, there are  rich coal resources. It can be said that the spring has come.

Low energy cost and LME price stability are expected to help the company to improve next quarter's earnings.
