The Application of Energy-saving and Emission Reduction in Brown Fused Alumina Manufacturing

As a premier manufacturer of high performance abrasive grain in China, Henan Dongfeng Abrasives Co., Ltd (shortly called “HNDF”) was set up in a tiny workshop in 1986. Nowadays, HNDF owns a well known brand “Li” and 72 classes abrasive grain for both coated and bonded abrasives. This article briefly summaries HNDF’s practical experience of saving energy and reducing emissions in the manufacturing of brown fused alumina, just for reference.

We’ve all heard of a new life-style called low-carbon life, but what does low-carbon mean to entrepreneurs? Actually, it is to seek for the maximum of economic and social benefits with the minimal resource allocation. Faced with the rapid low-carbon storm, we should optimistically realize that governments’ macro policies now are favorable for enterprises’ sustainable development. It is the trend of times and also for the lasting interests of all human beings that the world economy should develop in a highly deep and professional way.

In recent years’ development, factories manufacturing brown fused alumina have caused environmental problems of different levels, such as dust pollution, water pollution, gas pollution and noises. If these problems can’t be handled appropriately, it will be a hazard to both our living environment and the enterprise itself. Worthy to mention that HNDF have taken some measures in this respect and some progresses have been made.

 1. Dust Treatment: HNDF reduces the dust pollution in the machining process with automatic reverse pulse bag and cartridge filter, still the best choice of the dust treatment now.

2, Noises Treatment: blocking and absorbing noises by fixing silencer equipment on inlet and outlet of the machine, which have basically solved this problem.

3, Water-pollution Treatment: for the pollution caused by watering abrasives, recycle the water till zero emissions; while for those caused by pickling abrasives, replace it with high temperature treatment.

4, Gas pollution: coal used in the calcination and drying process will cause certain pollutions to the air. HNDF solves this by a technical renovation on the gas stove to reduce the amount of coal and improve the efficiency, finally to achieve the goal of saving energy and reducing consumption.
